This past weekend was supposed to be Pretty Boy's first show at the MN cutting futurity. We know in our hearts he would have done wonderfully. His memory lives on and there isn't a day that goes by that we don't think of him.

We will try to get some new pictures of the foals by this coming weekend. They are all so nice! We are always thrilled with a foal from Holidoc (Layla), and we are extremely happy with our first time foals from Inwhizable (Turbo) and Custom Tuxedo (Gracie). We honestly couldn't have asked for a nicer bunch of kids to have on the farm this year! They are all little chunks, and all three just love people and attention. Weaning is just around the corner, we are thinking we might wean Layla and Turbo mid-September and Gracie mid-October. But, we aren't in a hurry and we may decide to leave Layla and Turbo with their dams and just wean all three foals together in October. Not quite sure yet.

And, of course the rest of the herd is also doing well. I think we are all looking forward to some cooler weather. We started the spring out very cool, and ended up quite warm through August especially. So a nice cool down and beautiful fall temperatures through September and October will be wonderful.

It is HOT and HUMID here! Calling for very high 80's and low 90's all of this week, but with the high dewpoints it's going to feel like almost 100 degrees this afternoon alone. The bugs (particularly flies) are horrible too. All of the horses (including the foals) are wearing their fly masks to help protect their eyes from the sun and bugs, and they are getting fresh cool water in their water troughs daily while this heat is here. We are looking forward to this weekend, should be back down to the low 80's and mid to high 70's by this weekend and all next week.
Aside from the heat, everyone is doing well. The foals are looking great, they are all so nice! We have decided to lower Turbo's price to $2000...he's a really nice colt, and we'd love to see him in his new forever home after weaning this fall. Great opportunity to own a really nicely bred and put together colt, and a reasonable price!

The 2010 foals are growing like weeds! New pictures of all 3 kids were taken Sunday (7/25) evening. Scroll down below their pedigrees to view the latest pictures... Layla, Turbo, and Gracie. Super great foal crop this year, just couldn't ask for a nicer group of foals to have on the farm! Also, just a couple new pictures of Lizzy and Sophie taken Sunday evening as well.

Pretty Boy had not been living with us for over a year and a half he was boarded and trained at JPBell cutting horses. So any questions about what signs were shown by Pretty Boy would have to directed to JP Bell.

It has already been a week since we lost our boy. Today we learned that he had passed from strangles. This is a treatable disease, so there are many questions they need to be answered!

Pretty Boy had not been living with us for over a year and a half he was boarded and trained at JPBell cutting horses. So any questions about what signs were shown by Pretty Boy would have to directed to JP Bell.

We would like to thank everybody for your support during this extremely difficult time for us; we've had many e-mails, phone calls, etc. and we appreciate all of your thoughts, prayers, and kind words.

If you have a few extra minutes, please watch this video made in memory of Pretty Boy. It is composed of pictures of him growing up. Starting with the very first pictures we had ever seen of him as a weanling, all the way to more current pictures last taken in April 2010 as a 3 year old, and all of his growth spurts and changes in between.

We mourn the loss of our young stallion, PQH Pretty Boy. His death is completely unexpected, a huge shock, and a major loss to the future of Pretty Quarter Horses.

May 30, 2010
New pictures of Lacey were taken this evening. She has always been a thick mare, but she has really filled out over the past year and she is gorgeous! :)

May 23, 2010
A few new pictures were taken this evening of Sierra and Marilyn just out in the pasture (both can be seen on the For Sale page). If Marilyn and Sierra are sold to the same home price will be $2500 for both of them, They are pasture buddies I would like to see them stay together.

I also added just 1 new picture each (will try to get more soon!) of Emily, Lizzy, and Sophie (all three can be seen on the Mares page).

May 18, 2010
New pictures of Gracie and Turbo taken this afternoon!

May 17, 2010
Xena foaled a beautiful bay filly at about 1:30 this afternoon...how nice of her to go in the middle of such a beautiful sunny day too! :-) Please click here to go to new filly, Gracie's page.

May 16, 2010
We snapped just a couple new pictures of Sierra this evening. She is not fully shed out, so we will take more in the coming weeks when she has finished getting rid of that winter fuzz. :-)

We are hoping for a foal from Xena very soon! She looks ready to go and is getting uncomfortable. We've noticed more looking and biting at her sides over the past day or two here as well, so check back often for an update!

May 15, 2010
Xena is now in the barn overnights, for foal watch. She is currently 335 days and can go any time. She has gone as early as 332, and as late as 346. She's had several foals around 338-339 days...so we are hoping for a baby sometime this week! :) Check back oftens, we will update as soon as she foals! :-)

We also added a new horse to the sale page- Sierra, 2009 grulla (homozygous black) filly. Super nice filly! Built wonderfully and a very easy going personality. Should make a heck of a riding horse and/or broodmare when she is old enough!
All three mares we have for sale (Blue, Marilyn, and Sierra) are all very nice horses! We are just looking to downsize a little.

May 9, 2010
Xena is due to foal in less than 10 days (*based on off previous foaling dates*). She is coming along nicely and we can hardly wait to see the foal she produces with Custom Tuxedo! :-)

Lizzy and her grulla filly, Layla, are doing phenomenal! You honestly could not ask for a nicer foal than Layla....she is fantastic. Super easy going, loves people, easy to handle, smart, correct, cute, and well bred! She is the total package!

Mocha and her brown colt, Turbo, are also doing wonderfully! Turbo is such a handsome colt! He is starting to fill out, and looking great! And he is just so tall! He is nice and correct, super cute head, nice neck, short back, and is catching onto leading like a champ. He is going to make for one beautiful horse! Remember, he is for sale and if anyone is interested in him as a stallion prospect do not wait too long to contact us, as we will be gelding him if not sold by weaning.

Pretty Boy's first show is in less than 4 months! We are so very excited for this, and can hardly wait to see how he does in the show pen! :-) Reminder, his first show will be at the Minnesota Cutting Horse Association's Royal Flush Futurity, August 26th-29th, at Red Horse Ranch Arena in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. If you are in the area, stop by the show and watch him live and in action! :-)

Check back often through the next couple of months here for breeding updates and 2011 expected foals! :-)

We will try and get some new pictuures of the foals soo and hopefully some new and better shots of the mares this summer to put on the website, so stay tuned for those as well! :-)

April 21, 2010
Sugar is here! She is a very cute little mare, and has a very sweet and easy going personality! New pictures were taken this afternoon, click here to view them.

April 19, 2010
New pictures were taken and added to Turbo's page a few days ago, be sure to check them out!  Click here to view them.

We also have a new addition to PQH...we are leasing from/partnering with our vet, Krishawn Kaibel, on a wonderful little cutting bred mare. Im a Sugar Kittie ("Sugar") is a 4 year old dark sorrel/chestnut mare. She is a daughter of NCHA money earner, A Big Cat Daddy. She's a granddaughter of High Brow Cat, Docs Pretty Tari, and Dual Lena San...all NCHA Money Earners! High Brow Hickory, Doc Tari, and Dual Pep are also on Sugar's face papers, again all being NCHA Money Earners! This is one well bred mare, and we are honored that Krishawn has offered to let this beautiful mare be apart of PQH, and be one of the first mares to be bred to our stallion, PQH Pretty Boy. They should no doubt, produce a wonderful cutting and/or reined cowhorse prospect next year! Click here to view Sugar's page.

As of right now, we know that we will be breed Lizzy (Jacs Tin Lizzy) and Sugar (Im a Sugar Kittie) to Pretty Boythis year. We are using frozen semen on all of our mares; Pretty Boy feezes wonderfully, has fantastic raw and post-thaw motility, and was a breeze to teach to collect. Check back often for more updates on 2011 PQH Pretty Boy foals! :-)

April 13, 2010
Due some inquiries on Mocha's colt (thank you very much for the great interest already!), we have decided to price him. $5000- price is good until weaning. Pay 25% down, and make payments until he is weaned. Weaning is done at 5 months old, and foals are ready to leave for their new homes 7-10 days after weaning.

April 11, 2010
Mocha and her colt are doing wonderful! This is only her second foal, but she is such a wonderful mother and very tolerant and accepting of everybody looking at and playing with her foal. Krishawn (our vet) was out this morning for a foal check- everything looked great and IgG levels were wonderful. We took a few new pictures this afternoon, click here and scroll down below his pedigree to see them.

April 10, 2010
Mocha is now 346 days. She is really holding out on us this time around (she foaled at 336 days with her first foal, in 2007). It should be soon though...she is extremely uncomfortable, has had mega crystals for the past 2 days, and has a bit of wax now. Check back often...hopefully we will have a foal on the ground very soon! :-)

UPDATE!
Mocha foaled a big brown or smokey brown colt this evening! Click here for pictures and info!

April 7, 2010
New pictures of Layla were taken this afternoon, she is now 2 weeks old!

Mocha is now 343 days, and still no foal. Hopefully she will go soon. :-)

April 3, 2010
We are still watching Mocha, she is due any time now. She is 339 days today, so she is definately going longer than she did with her previous foal (dun colt, by Holidoc, in 2007) when she foaled at 336 days. She is very big and everything looks to be in order, we are just waiting. And, I can hardly wait to see this foal (our first foal by Inwhizable!)! :-)

Lizzy's grulla filly, Layla, is doing wonderful! She is filling out very nicely, and is going to have a great chest and hip on her! She is the definition of "born friendly", she LOVES people and being scratched on.

And, Xena is getting pretty big herself. She still has about 6 1/2 weeks left to go, but things are looking good with her, and we are excited about our first Custom Tuxedo foal with her! :-)

And, I can hardly believe it's April already! Pretty Boy's first show is in just under 5 months...and we are oh so excited!!!
The rest of the herd is doing well and continuing to shed their winter coats. Everybody is happy and healthy.

March 28, 2010
New pictures and a short video of Layla were taken today. Click here to view them. She is such a nice filly- we couldn't ask for anything better!

Mocha is now on foal watch...just get to play the waiting game- whenever baby is ready to come out. :)

March 25, 2010
Foaling season has offically started! Lizzy foaled a beautiful and healthy grulla filly last night! Click here for pictures and information!

Mocha will be brought up to the barn this weekend and be on foal watch, as she is due to foal late next week.

March 20, 2010
We should have a baby on the ground within a couple of days. Lizzy is very ready to have her foal and seems to be acting "suspiciously" this evening....so we are keeping a close eye on her.  :-)  And, we are looking forward to seeing the foal!
Mocha is about 7-10 days behind Lizzy. These foals (in addition to Xena's foal by Custom Tuxedo due in May) should be some of the best we have produced!

Pretty Boy spent the last week at Stillwater Equine Veterinary Clinic; he was AV/phantom trained, and they have been collecting and freezing on him. He did a great job and has great semen quality! Thank you Dr. Brian Dahms (from Stillwater Equine) for the excellent care you gave our boy! We have a lot of frozen straws and will use some of them on our own mares this breeding season. We decided to do frozen with our own mares, so we do not have to interupt Pretty Boy's training for collection of fresh cooled. We want him to focus on his job under saddle in preperation of the 2010 MN Cutting Horse Association's Futurity in August. Pretty Boy will head back to JP Bell's facility on Tuesday and get back to his job of cutting. He is still doing phenomenally in under saddle and is almost a finished cutter!

March 10, 2010
Lizzy is now up at the barn to get comfortable in her foaling stall and turnout, and we can prepare for foal watch. She is 316 days along today, so Sunday (the 14th) is her 'safe day'. At 320 days, she can go anytime, but I don't think she will go until early the following week (the week of the 21st).

We will pull Mocha up to the barn in about another week, so she too has a little while to get comfortable in her foaling stall and turnout. Although she and Lizzy were bred/inseminated at the same time, Mocha doesn't look as far along in her bag development, and in the past has gone longer than what Lizzy does in gestation (by about 7-10 days). So right now, we are thinking we won't have a foal from her until the following week after Lizzy foals (the week of the 28th).

But, as anyone with broodmares knows, they have their own rulebook and things can change quickly, so be sure to check back for updates! :)

March 7, 2010
We are just counting down the days before the foals are here! Lizzy and Mocha are absolutely huge and are bagging nicely! Lizzy is down to less than 18 days to go, and Mocha is down to less than 25 days to go!

We know the Lizzy / Holidoc cross is a good one, so we are super excited to have another foal from that pair!
We are very excited for the Mocha / Inwhizable cross...it will be a first time match and we are definately thinking that foal will be fantastic as well!

Xena has a little longer to go yet, with about 10 1/2 weeks remaining, but she is getting the preggo-belly look as each day passes. She is such a large bodied mare she doesn't hang as low as some of the other mares...she keeps her foals tucked up a little higher. We are also very excited about this first time match of Xena / Custom Tuxedo....should be an excellent foal!

Stay tuned for more updates as the days go by here, and we get closer and closer to our 2010 foals!

March 3, 2010
The mares are all looking fat and sassy, will not be long before we have our 1st foal of 2010.

PQH Pretty Boy will be going to Stillwater Equine to learn to be collected and then we will freeze for the 2010 breeding season. We have decided to use frozen on our own mares as to not disrupt his training and showing.
We are still unsure which of our mares we will be breeding him to. As the next few months move along we will add and update a 2011 expected foals page.
