Sierra currently (as of Fall 2011) stands about 14.1hh at the withers and about 14.3hh at the butt, and is super thick and wide!! She is built like a brick house, no doubt about it! She has great solid straight legs, a nice round hip, and a big shoulder and chest. Along with her fantastic build and conformation, she also has a great relaxed personality.
Sierra is a pretty passive and laid back filly, not much phases her. She was out on pasture all of her yearling year and didn't have much done with her, so she can be a little pushy if you are just hanging out in the pasture with her- she is a bit of an attention hog and really just wants you to pet and love on her. Sierra has been worked with more this year (as a 2 yr old) and is easy to lead, stands for fly spray, picks up her hooves, is standing tied really well, giving her head, disengaging/yielding hind and forequarters, learning how to lunge on a line, etc. She is super easy to work with and catches on quickly. She's going to be a super nice mare- awesome riding and/or broodmare prospect! And to top it off, she has color- grulla AND homozygous black...icing on the cake!

Sierra has been coat color tested:
Black/Red Factor: EE
Agouti: aa
Cream: NN
Dun: D/N

Note- both Sierra's sire and dam have been HERDA tested negative, so there is no need to test Sierra...she is guaranteed to be HERDA N/N (negative).

Patrick making friends with Sierra. Patrick is our 12 year old autistic son. Until last year, he was always afraid of the horses. Now that he likes them, its a good opportunity for him to go out and pet on them and give them kisses, as well as let the foals see a kid (somebody small) wandering around them. :-)
